With a AAPT dialup account, you can access the Internet in many countries using global roaming. AAPT is affiliated with both the iPass. For more information on using iPass, see our global roaming page.
Normally, all you need to do to roam is install the dialler software and use it to connect to a POP in the country you are visting. You may need to configure a connection manually if:
The iPass dialler simply makes it easier to select a dialin number and connect. Behind the scenes, all it does is create a connection using Dial-Up Networking (Windows) or Remote Access (MacOS). You can do this manually if you have these settings:
Your normal password
Your special iPass username
The iPass dialler formats your username so that you can authenticate as a
roaming customer of AAPT. If you are not using the iPass dialler, you must
alter the username manually. The format is:
IPASS/cca/user@domain (case sensitive). For example, if you
normally connect with username@example.com, you should use
IPASS/cca/username@example.com when roaming.
The dialin number for each POP you intend to use
Although iPass has a list of locations online
(http://www.ipass.com/ipass_apfinder.html),
the dialin numbers are only available from with the iPass dialler. If you, or
someone you know, can run the iPass dialler, you can obtain the numbers you
need before you travel. Otherwise, please call AAPT Support on
1300 731 111 to get the POP numbers for the places you intend to
visit.
Once you have the details you need, the next step is to create a dialup connection. Most operating systems have in-built dialup software (eg. Dial-Up Networking for Windows, Remote Access for MacOS, etc.). We have instructions available for several systems on our Setting Up to Dial In page.
When you see references to your username and dialin phone number, use the settings listed above.
This page deals only with manual configuration. More information is available from our main Global Roaming page. In particular, you should read it for information on:
