Setting Up your Web Browser
Dialup Customers
Please choose which browser you need to set up:
Netscape Communicator version 4
- Open the Netscape Navigator Web Browser.
- Select the Edit menu.
- Select the Preferences... menu item.
- Click once on the + next to Advanced to display
the expanded menu (or double click on Advanced).
- Click once on the Proxies item to display the Proxies
options.
- Select Automatic Proxy Configuration.
- In the Configuration location (URL) field, type http://proxy.connect.com.au/
- Click the OK button to close the Preferences
window.
- You may need to restart Netscape Navigator for the settings
to take effect.
Netscape Navigator versions 2 & 3
- Open the Netscape Navigator Web Browser.
- Select Network Preferences from the Options
menu.
- Click the Proxies tab.
- Select Automatic Proxy Configuration.
- Type http://proxy.connect.com.au/ in the Configuration
Location (URL) field.
- Click the OK button to close the dialog box
- You may need to restart Netscape Navigator for the settings
to take effect.
For Netscape Version 2 only: Select
Save Options from the Options menu.
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3
- Open the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browser.
- From the View menu, select Options.
- Click on the Connection tab.
- Select Connect through a proxy server.
- Click on the Settings button.
- Type the following settings in the Servers section:
- HTTP: proxy.connect.com.au Port: 8080
- FTP: proxy.connect.com.au Port: 8080
- Gopher: proxy.connect.com.au Port: 8080
- Leave all other fields blank.
- Click the OK button to close the Proxy Settings
window.
- Click Apply.
- Click the OK button to close the Options window.
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4
- Open the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browser.
- From the View menu, select Options.
- Click on the Connection tab.
- Select Access the Internet using a Proxy Server.
- Click on the Advanced button.
- Type the following settings in the Servers and Port
section:
- HTTP: proxy.connect.com.au Port: 8080
- Leave all other fields blank.
- Place a tick in the box Use the same Proxy Server for
all protocols
- Click the OK button to close the Proxy Settings
window.
- Click Apply.
- Click the OK button to close the Options window.
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 and 5.5
- Open the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browser.
- From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
- Click on the Connections tab.
- In the window called Dial-up Settings select the icon
that you use to connect to the internet, e.g., Connect.
- Click on the button called Settings.
- Click in the box called Use a proxy server.
- Click on the button called Advanced.
- In the box called HTTP type in proxy.connect.com.au,
and in the box called Port type in 8080.
- Click in the box called Use the same proxy server for
all protocols.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again
- Click OK once more.
