The URL for files located under htdocs is

http://www.your.domain.name/filename.html

where filename.html is the name you have given to your document. The directory name htdocs is invisible to visitors to your web site and it does not appear in the URL for your files. If the file is located in a directory you have created under htdocs the URL is

http://www.your.domain.name/directory_name/filename.html
