In most cases, the cause is an incor rect email address so review the original message and ensure all email addresses are correct. What is a POP lock? A POP lock is a mailbox lock. A POP lock error means that the mail server thinks that you are sti ll connected to the server so it will not allow you to make any further connections to it. This error usually occurs if you have not disconnected properly from a previous session, for example if you turned your modem off before disconnecting from the server, or if your connection drops out while you are retrieving your email from the server. Usually the mailbox lock will be removed if you wait about half an hour. < FONT SIZE=+2>Common News Errors What does "No permission to talk" mean? For security, the news server is given a list of IP addresses (definition) from which it can accept news requests. When you dial in to your account you are allocated an IP address from this pool at random. Unfortunately sometime the IP addresses in the dial-up pool become changed or lost so are not recognised by the news server. If this occurs, you will not be able to read news and receive this error message. Please log out the log back in to your account. You will receive a different IP number from the pool which should be recognised by the news server. There are pictures that look like puzzle pieces on my web pages. What do they mean? This message usually indicates that special permissions apply to the page you are trying to view and you do not meet the requirements. For example, many companies have web pages t hat are designed for internal use only and so they are set to allow only computers directly connected to the organisation's network to access them. However if this is a page you expect to be allowed to view, check that you have set the port number in your proxy setting to 8080. If it is set to 80 or any other number, you will receive Error 403. It is also possible that the site administrator has set the directory with incorrect permissions but this is something only the site administrator can fix. What does Error 404 mean? Error 404 occurs when the document or web page you requested does not exist. First double-check the address (URL) you typed to ensure it is exactly correct. Just one full stop in the wrong place will make the address incorrect. If you are certain you are typing the correct address and continue to receive Error 404 it is possible that the page has been renamed, moved to another located or removed altogether by the site administr ator. You can try browsing through the site to find the information you need. I can see the home page but cannot view anything else. Why has this happened? This means your prox y settings are incorrect. Review the instructions provided for Using AAPT's Proxy to ensure you have the correct settings. What does "DNS name lookup failure" mean? The DNS name lookup failure means that the first part of the URL you are requesting contains a domain name that does not exist. Double-check the address (URL) you typed to ensure it is exactly correct.
