Setting up your email using
Microsoft Internet Mail
It is very important that your
email client software is correctly set up to work with your account. If
it isn't you may be unable to send or receive email. If you experience problems
with your email, please work through this sheet first. If you continue to
have difficulties, contact AAPT Support.
About your email address
Your email
address is of the form: username@yourdomain.com.au
Setting up Microsoft Internet Mail Version 4.70
- Open Microsoft Internet Mail
- From the Mail menu, select Options.
- Select the Server tab.
- in the Name field, type your first name and surname. Your name
as you type it here will precede your email address in the From field of
any email you send so the email recipient can easily identify you as the
sender.
- If you wish, type the name of the organisation through whom you use
your account in the Organization field. Otherwise, leave it blank.
- In the Email Address field, type your email address, for example
username@yourdomain.com.au.
- In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) field, type mail.yourmailserver.com.au
- In the Incoming Mail (POP3) field, type mail.yourmailserver.com.au
- In the POP3 Account field, type your username (not your
full User ID). That is, type your username without @yourdomain.com.au
on the end.
- Leave the Password field blank. It is more secure to enter your
password each time you start up mail.
- Click the Advanced Settings...button.
- In the Server port numbers section
- In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server field, type 25
- In the Incoming Mail (POP3) server field, type 110.
- In the Delivery section, leave all values at the default.
- In the Reply To field, type your email address, username@yourdomain.com.au.
- Click the OK button to close the Mail Server Advanced Settings
window.
- Click the Connection tab.
- Select I use a modem to access my email.
- Click the Apply button to apply these settings.
- Click the OK button to close the Options window and save
your settings.
