You may use either Open Transport or MacTCP. If you have both, it is preferable
to use Open Transport. You need only set up one of either Open Transport
or MacTCP, you do not need to set up both.
Setting up Open Transport
Open Transport
networking software comes with System 7.5.3 or later but will work with
earlier System 7 versions. Versions of Open Transport earlier than 1.1 can
be unstable so please contact your Apple Dealer to arrange an upgrade.

MacTCP is bundled with our dial-up software version 3.x but will only
be installed if you don't already have another TCP product such as Open
Transport/TCPIP installed. It is preferable to use Open Transport if you
have it.
If you are not using our dial-up software to connect you need to make
sure you have TCPIP software on your computer. Do this by checking your
Control Panels folder for a MacTCP or similar icon. If you don't yet have
MacTCP or another TCP/IP product installed, but are using System 7.5 or
greater, you can install MacTCP from your original System disks by following
the instructions in your installer for a custom install.
