Your modem dials the number. A series of messages in the Status section indicate how the connection is progressing. The modem will make a series of squelching noises. This is called handshaking and is normal. When connected you can run Internet programs such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer to browse the web.

Remember that you are billed for the time that your connection is open. Please ensure that you close your connection when you have finished.
