Changing Your Password in Windows 2000
It is good security practice to change your password
from time to time. Use the "Manage Your Account" Link on aapt.net.au to quickly and
easily select a new password. Then, insert this new password in your dialer
software. Following are instructions for changing your password in Windows
2000.
Changing your password using Windows 2000 Network Connections
-
Ensure your modem is set up ready to make a connection.
-
In the Windows 2000 Start menu, move your mouse pointer over Settings, and click on the Network and Dial-Up Connections icon.
-
In the Network and Dial-Up Connections window double click on the
icon you use to connect to the Internet.
-
In the Password field, type your new password. The password is displayed
as asterisks on-screen to keep your password private.
-
If you wish to save the password on your computer, click once in the box to display a tick beside save password.
-
Click on the Dial button to make a connection.
The modem dials in and makes your connection. It is important that you
make the connection to ensure your password is correctly entered and accepted.
If you receive errors, try entering the password again, taking special
care that you are using the correct case. When the connection has been
made successfully, your Windows 2000 dial-up connection is updated to use
your new password for all future connections.
